Ease Benefits Is Going Away: What San Diego Employers Should Know About Employee Navigator

October 31, 2026 · CBIS Team

If you’ve logged in to Ease lately, you may have seen a notice that the platform is being sunset. Here’s what’s changing, the two dates that matter, and what your HR team can do now.

What’s happening with Ease benefits

Employee Navigator acquired Ease in April 2023. On June 3, 2026, it announced that Ease will be sunset in two phases. You can read the full announcement from Employee Navigator (opens in new tab) in its own words.

In plain terms, Employee Navigator is taking over, and employers on Ease will need a new home for their employee benefits administration. Most of that work falls to your broker. Your team still has a few things to plan for, and the checklist below covers them.

The two dates

January 1, 2027: phase one. No new companies can be added to Ease after this date. If your company is already on Ease, nothing changes for you on that day.

July 1, 2027: phase two. Ease becomes read-only. Integrations end, and Ease customer support ends. Your historical data and reports stay available.

What stays the same until July 1, 2027

Companies already on Ease aren’t affected by phase one. Your integrations, renewals and access continue. Your company can keep renewing and operating normally through June 30, 2027.

What changes on July 1, 2027

On that date, Ease becomes read-only. Your team can still look things up, but day-to-day work like new hire entries, changes and open enrollment will need to happen somewhere else.

Three things shift:

  • Integrations end. Any feed that depends on Ease, such as a payroll or carrier connection, needs a replacement plan.
  • Ease customer support ends. If something looks off in Ease after this date, Ease support won’t be there to help.
  • Your history stays. Your historical data and reports remain available.

Brokers are moving their groups from Ease to Employee Navigator at their own pace, using a migration tool.

What to do now: a checklist for HR

You don’t need to do all of this today.

  1. Ask your broker about the timeline. Ask when your group is scheduled to move, who handles the migration, and what they need from you.
  2. Pull the reports you rely on. Download the census, enrollment and deduction reports you reference during the year. Save them somewhere your team can find them.
  3. List your integrations and payroll feeds. Write down every system that connects to Ease. Include your payroll provider, carriers and any HR software. This list is what your broker will need to rebuild the connections.
  4. Plan training. Employee Navigator offers training sessions for HR teams.
  5. Tell your employees. Let them know a platform change is coming, roughly when, and who to ask with questions. If their login or enrollment link will change, say so ahead of time.

How employees log in to Employee Navigator

If you’re looking for the Employee Navigator login, here’s how it generally works for employees.

The first time, each employee registers and creates their own username and password. Employee Navigator doesn’t hand out preset logins. To register, employees enter a Company Identifier that’s specific to their employer, plus personal details that must match their company record, such as name and birth date. The Company Identifier comes from HR, often in a registration email that has the link and details they need.

After that, employees log in with the username they created. If they forget the password, they can reset it from the login screen. A new hire registration email expires after 15 days, so an older one may not work.

If someone is stuck, the right first step is to ask the HR team or broker for the correct link and Company Identifier.

For CBIS groups, once we set things up, your HR team gets the link to share with employees.

If your broker already handles the move

Then most of the work is already covered. Your broker moves your group, you work through the checklist above, and you keep doing what you do.

If your broker hasn’t mentioned it yet, a quick email asking about the plan is a reasonable next step.

Still doing benefits on paper?

Not every employer was on Ease to begin with. Some groups still run benefits with paper enrollment forms, a spreadsheet, and a fax to each carrier.

Paper has its problems. Forms go missing. Someone types the same details into a spreadsheet, then again on a carrier form. You chase signatures before a deadline.

If that sounds familiar, we can help you move to Employee Navigator. When we’re your broker, Employee Navigator is part of how we service your group. We set it up for open enrollment, new hires and terminations, and your team handles routine entries from there. New hires can schedule an enrollment session with a licensed benefit counselor by phone or video while they sign up.

Help for San Diego employers moving from Ease to Employee Navigator

If your Ease setup needs a new home, or you’re looking for a new broker, we can help with your employee benefits and the move to Employee Navigator.

CBIS is an independent insurance agency, family-owned since 1982. Based in Santee, serving San Diego County, and helping employers across California by phone or video.

Here’s how it works when we’re your broker:

  • Employee Navigator is part of how we service your group. We set it up for open enrollment, new hires and terminations.
  • Your team handles routine entries. We don’t run the platform day to day. Your people enter the ordinary changes once the setup is in place.
  • New hires can meet with a licensed benefit counselor. They can schedule an enrollment session by phone or video while they sign up.
  • No office visits. We work by phone or video, and enrollment meetings can be held at your workplace.

We work with California small groups, starting at the owner plus one employee, and with groups up to about 250 employees.

Frequently asked questions

Is Ease shutting down?

Ease is being sunset in two phases. Employee Navigator announced the plan on June 3, 2026. Starting July 1, 2027, Ease becomes read-only, integrations end and Ease customer support ends. Historical data and reporting stay available.

When does Ease go read-only?

July 1, 2027. Until June 30, 2027, companies already on Ease can keep renewing and operating normally.

What happens to my Ease data?

Your historical data and reporting stay available after Ease goes read-only. It’s still smart to save copies of the reports you rely on. Ask your broker how your group’s data will carry over to Employee Navigator.

Do I have to switch to Employee Navigator?

Ease goes read-only on July 1, 2027, so your day-to-day benefits administration needs a new home by then. Brokers are moving groups from Ease to Employee Navigator, and your broker can tell you how and when. If you’re not sure who’s handling it, ask.

Can I still add a new company to Ease?

Not after January 1, 2027. Starting that day, no new companies can be added. Companies already on Ease aren’t affected by that change.

How do I log in to Employee Navigator?

The first time, you register with your employer’s Company Identifier and create your own username and password. After that, you log in with that username. If you don’t have the right link or Company Identifier, ask your HR team or broker.

Can CBIS set up Employee Navigator if we do benefits on paper now?

Yes. When we’re your broker, we can set up Employee Navigator for your group, whether you’re coming from Ease, paper forms or a spreadsheet. We set it up for open enrollment, new hires and terminations, and your team handles routine entries after that.

Who can help San Diego employers move from Ease to Employee Navigator?

Your current broker is the first one to ask. If your Ease setup needs a new home, or you’re looking for a broker, we can set up Employee Navigator for your group. We work with employers in San Diego and across California by phone or video.
